The I-7188E1 CR is a programmable Ethernet device server that brings a single RS-232 serial device onto an Ethernet network. Because the serial side is protocol independent, it suits engineers who need to network an existing RS-232 instrument, controller or terminal without changing the device itself.
Serial data can be passed to a PC through Virtual COM, letting existing COM-port software communicate over Ethernet, or exchanged through a raw TCP connection. The built-in MiniOS7 and Xserver programming structure allow custom Ethernet applications to be developed on the unit, and a watchdog timer supports operation in demanding environments.
The removable on-board terminal block simplifies wiring of the RS-232 signals (TXD, RXD, RTS, CTS, GND) and the +10 ~ +30 VDC non-regulated supply, which includes reverse polarity protection. The compact enclosure measures 123 mm x 72 mm x 33 mm.
