The I-7188E1D brings an RS-232 serial device onto an Ethernet network. Serial data can be passed through to a host using a Virtual COM connection, so existing COM-port software keeps working, or over a raw TCP connection for custom applications. Its protocol independence makes it suited to bridging legacy serial equipment without changes to the device itself.
The unit runs the built-in MiniOS7 from ICP DAS, which is supported by the Xserver programming structure for building custom Ethernet logic. A watchdog timer is included for harsh-environment use, and the status LED display gives a quick visual check of operation. Power reverse polarity protection guards the +10 VDC to +30 VDC supply input.
Its compact, palm-sized housing measuring 123 mm x 72 mm x 33 mm and removable on-board terminal block make installation straightforward. The VxComm driver supports 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 SP1, 10, 2012 and 2016 for Virtual COM operation.
