The I-7551 CR is an isolated RS-232 to RS-232 repeater that places an electrical isolation barrier between two serial devices. It carries full-duplex traffic, including the control signals, so equipment on either side can run without a direct ground connection.
The CTS/RTS pins can be reconfigured as DSR/DTR to suit different serial wiring requirements. Isolation is applied in both the input and output interface circuits through two DC-to-DC isolators, giving three-way isolation rated at 3000 VDC.
This blue-cover (CR) ordering variant is intended for installations where the two sides use different power sources, the signals are noisy, or the devices sit at different ground potentials. It mounts on a DIN rail and accepts a +10 VDC to +30 VDC supply.
