The MSM-508FCS-60T is an industrial Layer 2 managed switch that carries Ethernet traffic over single-mode fiber, so links are immune to EMI/RFI and electrical surges. It suits runs where the transmission path must be kept electrically isolated from the plant, with reach up to 60 km on the SC fiber ports.
Management is available through an RS-232 console or over Ethernet via Telnet or a web browser. Managed features include 802.1Q tag-based and port-based VLANs, 802.1p QoS, port trunking, spanning tree, cable testing and port mirroring. The built-in Cyber-Ring technique allows several switches to form a redundant ring, with recovery from a fiber or copper link failure in approximately 20 ms.
Two DC inputs can be connected to live sources at the same time, so the unit keeps running if one supply fails. A relay alarm output signals power or network link failures, and Modbus/TCP, Modbus/RTU and OPC let a SCADA system read the status of the Ethernet and fiber ports.
