PROFI-8255-G macht ein Paar I/O-Module von ICP DAS zu einem PROFIBUS-DP-Slave. Die Einheit nimmt in ihren zwei Steckplätzen I-8K-, I-87K-Low-Profile- und I-87K-High-Profile-Module auf, sodass eine einzelne Einheit mit dem I/O-Mix bestückt werden kann, den eine Maschine benötigt. Die Einheit unterstützt DP-V0 und DP-V1 mit Lese- und Schreibzugriff, und ihre Adresse wird über Drehschalter im Bereich von 0 bis 126 eingestellt.
Die Konfiguration erfolgt vollständig über die GSD-Datei, sodass die I/O-Module im Konfigurationswerkzeug des PROFIBUS-Masters ausgewählt und abgebildet werden können, ohne separate Einstellsoftware. Die Übertragungsrate wird automatisch erkannt. I-87K-High-Profile-Module können im laufenden Betrieb getauscht werden, was die Wartung an laufenden Linien vereinfacht.
Für elektrisch störanfällige Anlagen bietet die Einheit auf der PROFIBUS-Seite eine Isolationsbarriere mit 3000 VDC, eine Isolation zwischen Bus und Logik mit 2500 Vrms über High Speed iCoupler sowie einen ESD-Schutz von 4 kV an jeder Klemme. Sie ist für einen Betriebstemperaturbereich von -25 bis +75 °C ausgelegt und lässt sich auf einer DIN-Schiene oder an der Wand montieren.
