The I-7188E5D-485 is a programmable device server that brings one RS-232 and four RS-485 serial ports onto an Ethernet network. It suits engineers who need to connect existing serial instruments, controllers or field devices to a network without redesigning the equipment behind them.
Serial data can be carried over a Virtual COM connection, using the VxComm driver on supported Windows systems, or over a raw TCP connection. The built-in MiniOS7 runs the Xserver programming structure, so custom Ethernet logic can be developed on the unit itself. A watchdog timer is included for unattended operation in harsh environments.
The removable on-board terminal block simplifies wiring in industrial installations. The unit is rated for -25 °C to +75 °C operation, accepts +10 VDC to +30 VDC non-regulated input with reverse polarity protection, and carries CE, UKCA, FCC, RoHS and WEEE marks.
