The PDS-5105D-MTCP is a programmable device server, also known as a Serial-to-Ethernet gateway, for bringing RS-232/485 devices onto an Ethernet network. The VxComm driver and utility map its built-in COM ports to standard COM ports on a PC, so existing serial software can keep working with networked hardware.
Programming is handled through the Xserver structure, and the built-in MiniOS7 real-time operating system boots in about one second. The unit can also act as a Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway, which suits SCADA and HMI systems that speak Modbus/TCP.
Ethernet cabling can be daisy-chained through the integrated 2-port 10/100Base-TX switch. If the unit goes offline because of a software, hardware or power failure, the LAN bypass takes over so essential network traffic continues. The removable terminal block simplifies field wiring.
