The VPD-173N-64 CR is a 7-inch touch HMI from the VPD Series, aimed at engineers who need a wall-mounted operator panel with serial and Ethernet connectivity. It combines an 800 x 480 TFT colour touch display with two RS-232 or RS-485 serial ports, so it can talk to field devices over either standard without an additional converter.
Power can come from PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 1) or from a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal block, which simplifies cabling where an Ethernet drop is already present. The -64 variant provides 64 MB SDRAM and 64 MB Flash, and the real-time clock, buzzer, rotary switch and reset button support time-stamped and user-interactive applications.
Programming is handled by the free HMIWorks tool, which offers a Ladder Designer for PLC users and a C language environment for software-focused users. The front panel is rated IP65 / NEMA 4, and the unit mounts on a wall.
