The CAN-2084C is a CANopen slave module that brings 4 or 8 counter and frequency input channels onto a CAN bus network. It suits engineers who need to count events, measure frequency or monitor position from quadrature encoders within a CANopen system.
The module offers five counter modes: Up Counter, Frequency, Up/Down Counter, Dir/Pulse Counter and A/B Phase Counter. A digital filter reduces the effect of noise on the inputs, and each channel has 4 kV contact ESD protection. It operates as an NMT slave and supports PDO mapping with 10 RxPDOs and 10 TxPDOs.
The module has passed validation with the CiA CANopen conformance test tool and provides a default EDS file, so it can be integrated with a standard CANopen master. It is designed for DIN-rail mounting and has an operating temperature range of -25 ~ +75 °C.
