The EC4-EP21 CR is an EtherCAT coupler that forms the head of a distributed I/O station. It connects the EtherCAT fieldbus to the EtherCAT Slim low-profile modules that sit alongside it, so a station is built from one coupler plus as many Slim modules as the application needs.
Two RJ-45 ports (one IN, one OUT) allow the coupler to be daisy-chained along the network, with a maximum of 100 m between stations over 100BASE-TX. Node addressing is set through the external ID switch, and up to 256 node IDs are supported. The unit accepts dual power inputs at +24 VDC and includes over-voltage, under-voltage and over-current protection.
The housing is plastic and measures 25 x 108 x 93 mm (W x L x D). It mounts on a DIN rail or to a wall, and is rated for operation from -25 ~ +75 °C. The CR suffix denotes the RoHS-compliant version, listed with CE, UKCA, FCC, RoHS and WEEE certifications.
