GW-7838-M bridges Modbus TCP/RTU networks and M-Bus metering. It acts as an M-Bus master, reading meter data from up to 100 slave devices, and presents that data as a Modbus TCP server, so a PLC or PC can collect readings without any M-Bus knowledge.
The gateway is set up once with the M-Bus configuration utility. After that it reads the meters autonomously. A Modbus client can then access the data over Ethernet (TCP) or the RS-232 serial port, with Modbus function codes 0x03 and 0x04 used to read meter values.
