The I-7188E5D is a programmable device server that brings four RS-232 ports and one RS-485 port onto an Ethernet network. Serial devices can be reached either through Virtual COM ports on a Windows host or through raw TCP connections, which suits both legacy PC software and custom network applications.
Its built-in MiniOS7 and Xserver programming structure let engineers build their own Ethernet logic on a compact, palm-sized unit. A watchdog timer supports operation in harsh environments, and the status LED display gives a quick visual check of the unit. The power input accepts non-regulated +10 VDC to +30 VDC and includes reverse polarity protection.
Typical choices for this unit are cases where several serial devices must be consolidated onto Ethernet within factory, building or home automation installations. The removable terminal block simplifies wiring during installation.
