The PCI-P16POR16U is a universal PCI card, supporting 3.3 V and 5 V PCI bus slots, that combines 16 optically isolated digital inputs with 16 PhotoMOS relay outputs on a single board. The inputs accept AC or DC signals from 5 to 24 V, with selectable DC filtering, and are suited to sensing external voltages, switches and contact closures.
Isolation is the main reason to choose this card. The digital inputs provide 5000 Vrms photo-isolation protection, so field wiring can float relative to the host computer, which helps prevent ground loops and shields the PC from voltage spikes. The PhotoMOS relay outputs, rated at 300 V (AC peak or DC) and 130 mA, switch without mechanical contacts, so there is no contact bounce, sparking or acoustical noise, and they provide low leakage current when off.
A 4-bit onboard Card ID switch lets software identify the board when two or more cards are installed in the same computer. The card is described as a direct replacement for the PCI-P16POR16 and needs no software or driver changes. It is supplied with one CA-4037W cable and two CA-4002 D-Sub connectors and carries CE, UKCA, FCC, RoHS and WEEE certification.
