PDS-220FCS CR is a programmable device server that carries RS-232 and RS-422/485 serial traffic over a single-mode SC fibre link. It suits engineers who need to move serial devices across long runs or into electrically noisy and high-voltage areas, where copper cabling would be unreliable or unsafe.
The unit combines a 1-port 100Base-FX Ethernet interface with one 5-wire RS-232 port and one RS-485/RS-422 port. The Virtual COM driver extends the COM ports of a PC over the network, and the built-in Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway lets Modbus TCP clients reach serial slave devices. The MiniOS7 firmware runs the programmable application on the unit itself.
Protection features include a Watchdog Timer, +/-4 kV ESD protection on the serial port and a Self-Tuner ASIC controller on the RS-485 port. The unit draws 0.14 A at 24 VDC, accepts +12 to 48 VDC and mounts on DIN-rail. It is rated for -25 to +75 °C operation.
