The PPDS-734D-MTCP CR is a programmable device server that brings legacy serial equipment onto an Ethernet network. It provides one RS-232, one RS-485 and one RS-422/485 port, so engineers can connect several serial devices to a single unit and reach them over TCP/IP without redesigning the field hardware.
Beyond simple serial tunnelling, the unit runs a built-in programmable Xserver environment on the MiniOS7 operating system, which can be used to build custom Ethernet applications. It also acts as a Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateway, allowing SCADA and HMI systems that speak Modbus TCP to communicate with serial Modbus devices. The VxComm driver and utility can map the built-in COM ports to standard COM ports on a PC running supported 32 or 64-bit Windows versions.
Four digital inputs and four digital outputs are included for local switching and monitoring. The unit is powered either from IEEE 802.3af Class 1 Power over Ethernet or from a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal block supply. Its plastic casing mounts on DIN-rail or wall, and the package includes a CA-0910 cable.
