tGW-715i CR is a compact gateway that lets a Modbus TCP host talk to serial Modbus RTU or ASCII devices over Ethernet, removing the cable-length limits of legacy serial networks. It suits engineers retrofitting existing RS-485 or RS-422 equipment into an IP-based SCADA or HMI system.
The unit can also be set up for pair-connection, serial-bridge or serial-tunnel operation, routing data over TCP/IP between two serial Modbus devices. A read-cache stores recent requests and responses, so repeated queries from several masters to the same slave are answered faster and place less load on the serial bus.
Power can come from PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 1) or from a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal-block supply. The 3000 VDC signal isolation on the serial port and the DIN-rail housing make it practical for panel-mounted installations. The ordering code includes a DC-jack to 2-wire power cable, 0.3 M.
